Hilton Johnson is a social impact specialist and has 20 years of international experience in the development, renewables and extractives industry sectors in Southern Africa and Latin America. His skills include socio-economic impact analysis particularly related to resettlement; stakeholder and community engagement; multi-sector partnership design; programme, process and project management; capacity building, trainer training and learning content design; monitoring and evaluation. His areas of speciality include human rights and international standards, management of socio-economic impacts, business process design and change management, managing community and stakeholder relations, resettlement and migration, livelihoods, enterprise development and adult learning.
Hilton has a Masters Degree in Forced Migration Studies from the University of the Witwatersrand, a Postgraduate Diploma in Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Economics and Information Systems from the University of South Africa.
Hilton has most recently worked on certified community relations practitioner training development and delivery in partnership with the University of the Witwatersrand, human rights impact and due diligence processes, resettlement review projects for Anglo-American Platinum, and resettlement, livelihoods and social management plan development for various projects including Hydropower Projects in Uganda, and various mining projects in Southern Africa.
