Abdourahim BA is an Environmental and Social (E&S) expert with over fifteen years of experience supporting complex infrastructure and energy projects across Africa. His expertise covers the full project lifecycle—from early-stage development and lender due diligence to construction supervision and operational compliance.
He has led and contributed to numerous high-profile assignments, including Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), lender due diligence, development and implementation of Environmental and Social Management Systems (ESMS), and oversight of resettlement and livelihood restoration programs. His project experience includes large-scale solar power developments, thermal generation, and transmission infrastructure, where he works closely with developers, contractors, and lenders to ensure alignment with national regulations and international standards, including IFC Performance Standards.
Abdourahim combines strong technical expertise with practical, field-oriented experience, enabling him to support project teams in translating E&S requirements into effective and workable site practices. He has extensive experience in stakeholder engagement, grievance mechanisms, and contractor supervision during construction and operation phases.
As Director of Synergy’s Senegal office (OSIEC), Abdourahim leads the delivery of E&S services across West Africa, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing relationships with international lenders, private developers, and public institutions. He brings a strong understanding of local regulatory frameworks and operating conditions, ensuring that projects are both compliant and grounded in local contexts.
Based in Senegal, he has worked extensively across West and Central Africa, including Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Benin, Togo, Tchad, The Gambia and Madagascar. He is fluent in French, Wolof, and Pulaar, and has strong working proficiency in English. He holds a master’s degree in environment from Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar and a university diploma in electrical engineering at ESP Dakar.
