Andy is a social sustainability and justice specialist with over twenty-five years of experience undertaking baseline social research, developing and reviewing social impact assessments, and supporting stakeholder engagement across complex projects. She brings a strong focus on social justice, vulnerability, and displacement, and is experienced working in challenging socio-economic and political contexts.

Over the past several years, she has focused predominantly on environmental and social due diligence (ESDD) and monitoring for development finance institutions and investors, including as lead social advisor. Her work is grounded in international good practice, including the IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, labour standards, and relevant human rights frameworks, and spans renewables, mining, infrastructure, sustainable agriculture, and service delivery.

Andy has particular strengths in designing inclusive engagement approaches, including the use of multi-media methods to support meaningful participation irrespective of language or literacy levels. She has developed and delivered training on social performance and has contributed to social performance audits, including supporting the assessment of corporate frameworks and site-level delivery. Andy has worked across more than sixteen African countries, as well as in Europe, the Middle East and the Pacific. She works fluently in English and speaks Afrikaans, with basic working knowledge of isiZulu and Sesotho. She holds an MPhil in Environmental and Geographical Sciences from the University of Cape Town and a BA (Hons) in Dramatic Art (Film & Theatre Directing) from the University of the Witwatersrand.
