Sam uses his experience as a development planning and management specialist, along with a deep understanding of working with mining companies, governments and communities, to unlock difficult project processes and facilitate the resolution of contested matters and conflicts in sensitive environments. His expertise lies in resettlement management, livelihood restoration, compensation negotiations, community development planning, local economic development, integrated development planning and stakeholder management social impact studies, stakeholder engagement and resettlement.
He is interested in helping companies to contribute towards shared value in their co-existence with communities. He is of the view that public sector investment, in the areas of infrastructure and social services, has gone a long way in addressing the impoverishment of communities. However, many of the previously disadvantaged communities have not been able to transform into productive development spaces. He believes that private sector investments could enable inclusion of these communities in the mainstream economy.
